Minescope is a mobile application of mineralogy that simulates the functioning of the petrographic microscope. This is a new learning tool that allows you to identify and observe the optical properties of different minerals through the 360º rotation of images of digitalised thin sections. These images of thin sections have been performed with both unanalysed polarized light (LPNA) and analysed polarized light (LPA). Minescope incorporates, associated with the images, different descriptive file cards of each mineral species. It also has the option to filter minerals from the optical properties that the user observes in real time in a microscope. It is an application developed by students of Geology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona together with the department of mineralogy of the university.
